We have put together the 5 best low carb bread options available in Australia to help make it easier to find the best one for you and your lifestyle.

PBCo. Protein Bread Mix

  • 1.7g carbs per serve (2 slices) 
  • 10 serves per loaf (20 slices)
  • $12.00 per loaf which is just $1.25 per serve (inclusive of eggs & vinegar)

When made as per instructions and sliced 1cm thick, the bread yields 20 slices. As we use high quality, natural and mostly Australian ingredients, the cost is higher than normal bread (and a lot more nutritionally dense too). It has the similar nutritional makeup to a protein bar (which are usually around $5 each) so quite good value for a high protein, low carb snack or meal!

The only downfall is…

The only downfall is…

You need to bake yourself and it’s quite a small loaf (500g), which is only 1 slice (50g) per serving. It’s also not very high in protein. There is free shipping only if you spend over $75.

Helga’s LowER Carb 5 Seed Bread

  • 19.4g carbs per serve (2 slices) 
  • 10 serves (20 slices)
  • Cost $5.40 (based on Woolworths online store 29/05) which is $0.54 per serve.

Ingredients

Water, wheat flour, mixed seeds (17.5%) (sunflower seeds, brown linseeds, golden linseeds, poppy seeds, psyllium seeds),wheat gluten, wheat bran, defatted soy flour, yeast, vinegar, canola oil, iodised salt, cultured wheat flour, sesame seeds, kibbled soy, soy flour, vegetable emulsifiers (481, 471, 472e), vitamins (thiamin, folic acid).

It’s great because…

  • Conveniently available in most supermarkets. Is a LowER carb option.
  • This range has 2 other flavours Soy & Toasted Sesame and Wholemeal and Seed.

The only downfall is…

It’s not actually low carb, and it contains wheat, gluten and soy.
