Ingredients
-
1 heaped TB (30g) Protein Bread Mix
- 2 Tb water (we used a regular kitchen spoon)
- 1 egg (or 2 eggs whites)
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- 2 handfuls of Iceberg lettuce, shredded
- 2 small (150g) beef patties (we used the 8pk of beef rissoles from Coles)
- 1-2 pickles, sliced
- 2 slices (40g) Burger Cheese (we used Dairylea Burger Slices)
- 1 TB Onion flakes or fresh onion diced small.
- 2 TB of Special Burger Sauce
The Bun
The Rest
Directions
The Bun
In a small bowl add the bread mix, the beaten egg and 2 TB of water and whisk to combine well.
Spray the inside of a large mug with oil to avoid sticking, sprinkle in your toasted sesame seeds. Pour the batter into the bowl, use a spatula to get all the mixture into the mug. (the bottom of the muffin will become the top of the burger)
Pop the mug into the microwave for 60 seconds.
Remove from microwave and use a knife to loosen the muffin, and pop it on a board to cool. Once you have made your Protein English Muffin, set aside to cool before slicing into even thirds, horizontally.
Preparing the onion flakes for the burger.
Put 1 TB of onion flakes into a mug with 3 TB of water and stir. Pop in the microwave for 20 seconds and then allow to sit until the onion flakes plump up into onion pieces. Or you can dice up some fresh onion.
Now the rest...
Flatten your beef patties with your palm, then cook your patties to your liking. While these are cooking prepare the lettuce and pickles.
Once your Protein English Muffin has cooled, slice in thirds evenly horizontally and toast in the grill lightly.
Assemble your burger
Enjoy!
Recipe Note
The Special Burger sauce we used was from Coles, Woolworths also have their own version.
This MEGA Burger is the size of 2 meals - So the question you need to ask is...how hungry are you?
