Why have a Plant Based formula that requires animal products to mix?

I completely do not understand the reasoning behind having a plant based protein formula pancake, that requires eggs and milk to mix with? Most people seeking plant based alternatives, are doing it to not have to do anything with animal products. I purchased this because I mistakenly thought it was a plant based pancake fully. As I received the bag and eagerly began to setup to make a batch, I noticed "Mix with 1/4 cup of favorite milk and 1 large egg per 3 pancakes".... I was very upset but did not back down and attempted to just use Almond milk and plant based faux-egg mix that I use for eggs. This ended with one of the worst tasting mistakes ever. I will attempt to try with actual egg and see if at least it will taste alright, but please state in your information on the site that this requires eggs to make. I understand that you did not place a "Vegan" mark on it, so one should not assume it is, but when you say plant based, that usually implies vegan as well.

To make a serve of 3 Plant Based Protein Pancakes, you’ll need:

  • 30g (¼ cup) Protein Pancake Mix
  • 60ml (¼ cup) milk of choice
  • 1 large egg

Mix – Using a whisk, thoroughly combine all the ingredients in a bowl, then let the mixture sit whilst you heat up a fry pan.

PREPARE PAN – Spray a non-stick fry pan with oil. Heat until almost smoking (this seals the pan and prevents sticking). Once hot, turn to low heat and wait for 30 seconds.

Spoon – Spoon the mixture into the fry pan on a low heat, forming 3 pancakes approx. 10cm in diameter. Cook for 60-90 seconds or until you see bubbles appear.

Flip – Carefully flip each pancake and cook the other side for a further 90 seconds or until golden. Repeat this process for remaining 3 pancakes.

Storage – Pancakes must be stored in a sealed container, in the fridge (1-4°C) for up to 5 days,
or freezer (-18°C ) for up to 3 months.
